Creative and innovative Multimedia Editor needed in RFA’s Editorial department, located in Washington DC. This position reports to the Director-Managing Editor, RFA Online. It will be extensively involved in graphic design and focus on the development of interactive features such as timelines, maps, slideshows, and educational games in Mandarin language.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Assisting with all photo, video, and other multimedia editing procedures for RFA English and foreign language Web sites (primarily Mandarin), and timely   updating the multimedia section of the English language site.
  • Ensuring that RFA visual formats, styles and procedures are followed on all RFA English and foreign language Web sites (primarily Mandarin).
  • Managing RFA databases of photos, videos and graphics.
  • Supporting all language service Web Editors (primarily Mandarin) in video and photo editing assignments.
  • Developing a database of flash graphics for use by all language services (primarily Mandarin), including maps and other illustrative materials such as     logos, banners, etc.
  • Measuring and evaluating traffic on access to RFA videos and photos.
  • Contributing to on-going Web development by bringing forward innovative features and solutions.
  • Keeping abreast of developments in the field.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work a full-time five-day schedule that includes at least one weekend day
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Mandarin.
  • Knowledge of Chinese online media and experience writing html.  Some journalism experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with Photoshop CS, Premiere video editing software, and Adobe Flash.
  •  A highly creative and productive team player.
