Outreach Internship (Unpaid)

The Outreach Intern will help RFA’s Korean Service develop and implement outreach strategies to increase our visibility on the Web and interactivity with audiences. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in new media, be well-organized and be able to demonstrate an interest in international broadcasting, especially a focus on the Korean peninsula. We are looking for someone who can commit to 20 to 40 hours a week from July through September 2009, with the possibility of one 3-month extension.

This is a unique opportunity to work in an innovative, rapidly growing nonprofit environment. The position is flexible with the ability to provide input on strategy development, direction and implementation.

This internship would be ideal for an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree related to communications, new media, international relations, journalism or human rights. Knowledge of HTML, Adobe Creative Suite and a basic knowledge of video editing software is a plus.

Responsibilities Include

  • Support development and implementation of online outreach strategies
  • Create content for blog and social media sites
  • Assess outreach effort and impact using online metrics
  • Assist in placing and updating news on the Korean Service website, www.rfa.org/korean
  • Aid in producing videos, podcasts, slideshows and other multimedia

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Korean, spoken and written
  • Familiarity with outreach strategies and social media tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
