Previously, she served as RFA’s Managing Director for East Asia from 2017 to 2021, in charge of RFA’s Mandarin, Cantonese, Tibetan, Uyghur and (North) Korean language services. In her time at RFA, Min has led the expansion of RFA’s East Asia programming to keep up with dramatic regional developments and broaden its appeal to new, younger audiences on digital platforms. She oversaw RFA’s coverage of Hong Kong’s historic mass street protests in 2019 and 2020 as well as Tibet’s ongoing struggle to retain its dignity in the face of Chinese oppression. It was under Min’s leadership in 2017 that RFA’s Uyghur Service broke the story about the mass detention of Muslim Uyghurs held incommunicado by Chinese authorities - a story that led to landmark reporting around the world on the millions languishing in hidden internment camps in China’s Far West, also known as Xinjiang. During Min’s tenure, the services have won numerous awards, including two National Murrow Awards. She also shepherded the creation of RFA’s innovative digital news magazine, 歪脑 | WHYNOT, which aims to engage younger Mandarin speakers around the world. In its two years, 歪脑 | WHYNOT has earned a number of awards including a Hong Kong Human Rights Award, four Telly’s, and an Online News Association award, among others. Min is a veteran television journalist from Taiwan, who, prior to joining RFA, covered U.S. politics and global affairs in Washington and New York for several major Chinese-language news organizations, including Taiwan Television, where she served as the organization’s D.C. bureau chief and one of the network's leading news anchors.
