Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, Washington, DC-based, nonprofit corporation that provides accurate and timely news and information to Asian countries whose governments prohibit access to a free press. Delivered in nine Asian languages in addition to English, our journalism extends beyond radio to include web, video, mobile and e-books. RFA Cantonese Service is currently seeking dynamic and motivated professionals skilled in the planning, preparation, and production of visual projects to join its team and help it fulfill its mission by producing creative, polished, and engaging online multimedia content. This position will be based in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Take conceptual ideas and create effective and strategic visual content
  • Produce on a wide range of design projects for web, video and social media platforms
  • Provide creative visions at every step of the development process from concept to final delivery
  • Collaborate and support the team on visual projects
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

 

 Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, or in a relevant field
  • 1+ years of professional graphic design or multimedia experience
  • Artistic portfolio and work samples to showcase experience and creativity
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Flourish/Tableau)
  • Motion graphics design skills preferred
  • Photography experience and proficiency with photo editing software
  • Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills with the ability to contribute ideas to all aspects of the product development process
  • Demonstrate an understanding of graphic design principles and industry standards
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate inputs from supervisors to meet goals and requirements
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and production needs
  • Required language skills: Spoken and written fluency in Cantonese
  • Priority is given to the candidate able to work in D.C.
