Editor, Cantonese Service (Taipei-Based)
Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, Washington, DC-based, nonprofit corporation that provides accurate and timely news and information to Asian countries whose governments prohibit access to a free press. Delivered in nine Asian languages in addition to English, our journalism extends beyond radio to include web, video, mobile, and e-books. RFA Cantonese is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced editing professional to join its team and help it fulfill its mission. This position will be based in Taipei, Taiwan.
Responsibilities Include:
- Making assignments and guiding RFA reporters in Taiwan in developing news and feature reports
- Editing stories published on RFA webpage and social media platforms
- Researching and writing original feature stories, articles, and components of special reports.
- Working with the RFA editorial team in Asia and in the United State to discuss story ideas and edit them
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in journalism, preferably specialised in Hong Kong and China news
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, an advanced degree is a plus.
- Superb writing and spoken skills in Cantonese and Mandarin
- With a demonstration of creativity in developing social media
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must be a team player.
- Must work in Taiwan office
