English News Editor, Asia Fact Check Lab

Asia Fact Check Lab is a new platform by Radio Free Asia that aims to provide viewers with accurate and unbiased analysis of China-related statements made in public in order to counter misinformation and disinformation and to increase knowledge of critical issues. Asia Fact Check Lab is currently seeking an English editor to rewrite and edit our daily fact-checking reports and in-depth special projects in English. This full-time position is open for both US- and Taiwan-based candidates and will be located in RFA’s Washington, D.C. headquarter or Taipei office.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Editing daily English translation content based on the mandarin products for Asia Fact Check Lab's English webpage and social media platforms.
  • Providing translation for special projects such as feature reports, award submissions, internal documents, etc.
  • Conducting independent research and write fact-check reports based on sources in English.
  • Working with other staff to verify sources from English media and social media
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Translation, Journalism, or other related fields. An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum three years experience with a track record of successful experience in translating or English writing
  • Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English. Excellent writing and proofreading skills in English
  • Prior experience in journalism or media production is preferred
  • Knowledge of Asian current affairs and news context is preferred
  • Ability to multitask and handle strict deadlines
  • Ability to work well with a remote team in different time zones
