Global Mandarin Social Media Audience Engagement Specialist

Global Mandarin is a new digital media platform by Radio Free Asia that aims to inform and engage with young Mandarin-speaking audiences around the world. As it begins delivering independent information that presents various perspectives on subjects important to its audiences, Global Mandarin is currently seeking a Communications professional experienced in social media account management, audience engagement, and content promotion to help drive the expansion of WHYNOT|歪脑’s brand reach and viewership. This position will be based in either Washington, DC; Hong Kong; or Taipei.

Responsibilities Include

  • Managing day-to-day curation and management of Global Mandarin social accounts.
  • Developing and implementing ways of adapting Global Mandarin’s content to engage audiences on social media channels and digital platforms.
  • Working with the editorial team and managing the Wainao Talks discussion board on wainao.me by creating and moderating content-generated discussions.
  • Monitoring and responding to viewers’/readers’ comments and feedback.
  • Driving audience engagement by planning and implementing wainao.me content promotion strategies.
  • Expanding WHYNOT|歪脑’s brand’s reach and viewership by planning and implementing brand promotion strategies, online and offline.
  • Planning and executing partnership programs that are designed to shape WHYNOT|歪脑’s public image, credibility, and social responsibility.
  • Using analytics to monitor the effectiveness of social posts and campaigns; providing feedback to the editorial team based on data.
  • Tracking industry trends and use of social media in the target market; identifying opportunities to grow audiences on new and evolving social platforms.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field.
  • Minimum three years’ experience with a track record of successful experience in marketing campaigns.
  • Fluency in social media and prior experience using the medium in a professional setting.
  • News and media organization background is strongly preferred.
  • Strong personal social media profile is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong general computer skills.
  • Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and in English.
