Help Desk Technician

Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, Washington, DC-based, nonprofit corporation that provides accurate and timely news and information to Asian countries whose governments prohibit access to a free press. Delivered in nine Asian languages in addition to English, our journalism extends beyond radio to include web, video, mobile and e-books. RFA is currently seeking a talented Help Desk Technician who can provide daily support to the organization and its employees on hardware and software usage, including but not limited to installing, maintaining, troubleshooting equipment and systems. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Installing and maintaining routine hardware and software upgrades on all of RFA's desktop and laptop computing systems as well as on printers, copiers and other standard office peripherals. 
  • Making repairs to hardware, such as replacing and upgrading memory, boards, cards, and other internal components. 
  • Performing basic troubleshooting on a wide variety of software (including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and in-house proprietary software). 
  • Maintaining VOIP phone system and conduct physical configuration for end-user phones.
  • Ensuring help desk tickets are responded to, and resolved, in a timely manner.
  • Offering technical support and training to end-users.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of directly related IT experience supporting end-users’ hardware and software needs
  • Solid experience with Windows and Mac desktops, laptops, mobile devices (iOS, Android), and application support
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on software knowledge, installation and security
  • Ability to lift/carry/push up to 50 Lbs (Computers, printers, other IT/AV equipment) 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teammates, other teams, leaders, vendors, and non-technical personnel
