How many rooms to house 3 millions people? For argument's sake, 3 people per room, that would requirement 1 million rooms. That would be more than 5 percent of the stock available.

Think about it, is that really possible?

All of my family of working age in Xinjiang have to attend forced indoctrination sessions, and they are Han Chinese. Everyone in Xinjiang is living in an Orwellian police state, so, with this article's definition of "re-education" it seems like 3 million is a gross under-estimate. There may be a serious reporting bias issue with this "survey".

The Chinese Communist Party is waging a war against the Uighur people & their religion & identity. There is no freedom at all in Xinjiang for Uighur Muslims. The UN & the world are ignoring the Uighur concentration camps the CCP has created in Xinjiang. The Nazis did the same thing to the Jews while the world did nothing. Let's not have another Holocaust.

U.S. lawmakers Marco Rubio and Chris Smith, said recently that as many as 500,000 to a million people are or have been detained in the re-education camps, calling it ”the largest mass incarceration of a minority population in the world today.”

il piccolo bambino should also reflect on the American minority natives - they were not detained in re-education camps, they were decimated

Thank you for your comment, comrade. Your 50 yuan is in the mail. So are you claiming that China is doing to the Uighurs today what the US did to North American Indians in the 19th century?

And are you justifying that genocide by saying other countries have done it so why not China?

The US should just offer to take in the 10 million Muslim Uighurs who are actually peaceful and moderate Muslims. I mean what is another 10 million immigrants? The US can easily absorb them.

Please modify the headline of this story, as it is extremely misleading. Even more so when it gets abbreviated to "Three Million, Mostly Uyghurs, Detained in Xinjiang Political 'Re-Education' Camps...", which is what happens on social networks.

I don't think you can use "detained" to describe the "education sessions". It's not the same thing.

My proposal: "One Million Detained in Xinjiang Political 'Re-Education' Camps, Two Million Forced to Attend 'Education Sessions'".
