Hong Kong, Taiwan Artists Fight China's Repression With "Resistance Artwork"

Under the National Security Law China imposed on Hong Kong in mid-2020 -- which bans subversion, separatism, terrorism and collusion with foreign countries -- Hong Kong's political cartoonists have seen their space for free expression shrink overnight. Democratic Taiwan's artists have stepped in to fill that void and support their beleaguered colleagues with exhibitions and what they call "resistance artwork" depicting a year of pro-democracy protests in the former British colony that was handed back to China in 1997.
