Bird sellers in Myanmar struggle to make a living

Birds of all kinds are sold at a small marketplace near the roadside of Strand Road and 19th street in Yangon, Myanmar. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the nation's political upheaval have caused bird sales to drop over the past three years making it difficult for the bird sellers to make a living. In Myanmar, releasing captive animals has long been a Buddhist ritual in wishing for good fortune.
