Yangon and its Growing Mountains of Plastic Waste

Activists say Myanmar's main city Yangon generates about 2,500 tons of trash every day. Sewers are overflowing, and mountains of trash are heaped at disposal sites that will reach maximum capacity in a couple of years. A volunteer group, Clean Yangon, is organizing clean-ups, but public awareness of the need to restrict use of single-use plastic remains poor.
