China’s Great Famine: A Peasants’ Lament

Tens of millions are believed to have died from starvation during what the Chinese government calls the “Three Years of Difficulty” from 1959-1963. This report by RFA’s Mandarin service contains rare footage of survivors and eyewitnesses of the tragedy. The video won a gold medal earlier this year at the New York Film Festival.
