More than 170 villages of Inlay region have been flooded for about three weeks

Residents told RFA that floods are continuing in Inlay region of Nyaung Shwe Township, southern Shan State and water has decreased only about two feet within twenty days.

Since September 10, 171 villages near the lake, out of the 446 in Nyaung Shwe township, have been severely submerged by floodwaters.

A woman in her 80s said that she has never experienced flooding of this magnitude before.

As of September 21, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinating Office (UNOCHA) reported that nearly 900,000 people have been affected by flood in 65 townships in Myanmar.
